Welcome to Hearts For Him. It is my hope that you will get a cup of coffee, sit back and take a few moments to relax and draw your heart closer to God.
I am a writer, but more importantly I am a wife to Marty, mother to Jack, Lily, and Sofie, a friend to many, and a daughter of the King of Kings. I married my college sweetheart in 1992, and we moved to Texas right after I graduated from Iowa State University. What was suppose to be a temporary move, has become our new home. For the past 14 years, Marty and I have lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. And while I could certainly live without the scorching heat of Texas summer, I have also come to believe that spring in Texas is a preview of Heaven.
A former educator, I served as an elementary teacher for 13 years before leaving the classroom to slow life down to a manageable pace and be there for my family full time as a stay at home mom and the CEO of the Arbuckle household. Today, my days are filled with coupons, laundry, and errands. Some afternoons it feels like I never leave the car as I drop the kids at dance practices, soccer games, and drama rehearsals. Still, I take great joy investing in my family. Truly, I love encouraging my husband and watching my children discover their God given gifts and talents.
When I am not managing our family's busy calendar or writing on my blog, I enjoy getting coffee and slowing down to chat with good friends. After all, every busy gal needs a little down time with her peeps. And I have some of the best gal pals ever! I have come to believe that good coffee, mixed with cream and sugar in the raw, is proof that God wants His children to be happy. One day I hope to have a cup o' Joe with my best bud, Jesus as we share a piece of chocolate cake. What a day that shall be!
A typical suburban wife and mother, I lead a very ordinary life, but serve an extraordinary God. My life verse is..."Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.” (Romans 12:1 MSG). With a heart of gratitude for all God has done in my life, I write about the lessons I am learning from my Heavenly Father. Daily, I am amazed by His grace, power, and love as my story continues to unfold one day at a time.
I believe God is writing a glory story in us all, and that includes you sweet sister. Thank you for visiting Hearts For Him. May your day be filled with peace as you draw your heart closer to the One who placed the stars in the heavens and inspired man to grind coffee beans and brew them with hot water. What an awesome God we serve!
